They first met at a Wisconsin basketball game on March 26, 2015; Wilson later asked Ciara on a dinner date and they began dating soon after.

The couple have three children together: daughter Sienna Princess Wilson (born April 28, 2017), son Win Harrison Wilson (born July 23, 2020), and daughter Amora Princess Wilson (born December 11, 2023). (Ciara also has an older son, Future Zahir Wilburn, from a prior relationship; he is Russell's stepson.)

They met in 1946 while costarring in the Broadway play Jeb and married in 1948. They frequently performed together on stage and screen and were prominent civil-rights activists. The couple had three children, including son Guy Davis, a blues musician. Their marriage continued until Ossie Davis's death in 2005; Ruby Dee died in 2014.
