They met at a dinner party in Washington, D.C., in May 1952, hosted by journalist Charles L. Bartlett, and married on September 12, 1953. They had four children, two of whom died in infancy: Caroline, John Jr., Arabella (stillborn), and Patrick (1963). Jacqueline served as First Lady and became known for restoring the White House and her style. The relationship ended when John F. Kennedy was assassinated in 1963, leaving Jacqueline a widow.
